Fragment Launches With $56 Million to Automate the Work Enterprise Software Leaves Behind

Company’s Autonomous Context Engine resolves purchasing and payment exceptions for the world’s largest physical goods companies without replacing existing systems

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 28, 2026 - Fragment, an enterprise AI company building software that turns operating knowledge into autonomous action, launched today and announced $56 million in total funding, including a Series A led by 8VC and a seed round co-led by General Catalyst and A*. Angel investors include Roelof Botha, Nikesh Arora, Jeff Wilke, Eric Wu and Dennis Cinelli. Built for the complex direct procurement operations for the world’s largest physical goods companies, Fragment’s platform investigates and resolves purchasing and payment exceptions across existing systems, taking on the manual reconciliation that slows operations and consumes procurement teams’ time.

“We believe enterprise software should do more than record activity,” said Pranav Mulgund, Co-founder and CEO of Fragment. “The work required to keep a business running is often the hardest part to automate, but it is also the biggest source of operational drag. We’re building software that understands how a company actually works and can act on that context across the systems it already uses.”

Fragment is designed for some of the largest and most complex enterprises in the world, including manufacturers, distributors, and energy businesses. Its Autonomous Context Engine connects enterprise data, policies, supplier relationships, and operational context across systems to identify exceptions, determine an appropriate course of action, and resolve issues without forcing customers to replace their current infrastructure.

“Direct procurement at major physical-goods companies is one of the hardest operating environments in software,” said Naveen Verma, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Fragment. “When a purchase order changes, a delivery arrives out of sequence, or an invoice doesn’t match the original agreement, teams are forced to manually investigate and reconcile across systems. We’re building AI that can understand that operational context and take the next step.”

Fragment is already working with companies like Graybar and CNX to automate these workflows in real world conditions, helping teams reduce delays, improve procurement visibility, and keep critical operations moving.

“The founding team has the rare combination of operational understanding and technical depth needed to solve this problem,” said Jack Moshkovich, Partner at 8VC. “They are tackling one of the most consequential challenges in enterprise software: turning contextual operational knowledge into action at scale.”

Fragment is starting with procurement, but the company’s ambition is broader: to help enterprises make software capable of handling the work that today still depends on manual coordination and institutional knowledge.
